13 Year Prince George's County Police Veteran Indicted by Grand Jury on 13 Counts

Prince George's County State’s Attorney Glenn F. Ivey today announced that Juan Diego Carter, 36, of Bowie, Maryland was indicted by a Prince George’s County grand jury late yesterday, Tuesday, October 26, 2010, on 13 counts.

Carter is charged with:

  • Six counts of misconduct in office
  • Three counts of theft over $500.00
  • Three counts of theft under $500.00
  • One count of aggregate theft scheme

If convicted, Carter faces up to 10 years in prison.

“These are serious charges and we look forward to prosecuting this case,” said State’s Attorney Glenn F. Ivey.

National Soccer Championship Comes to Prince George's Community College

For the first time in history, Prince George’s Community College will host the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Women’s Soccer Championship, Thursday, November 4, 2010 through Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the college’s Largo campus.

Eight teams will be competing to be named the best team in the country as they take to the Prince George’s Community College’s newly renovated soccer field. Students will play four games on Thursday, November 4 and Friday, November 5. Three games will be played on Sunday.

Prince George's County Counterfeiter Pleads Guilty

Shango Taylor, age 33, of Forestville, Maryland, pleaded guilty today to counterfeiting U.S. currency.

Murder Investigation Underway In Landover

LANDOVER, Md. (WUSA) -- Prince George's County police are investigating a murder which left one man dead Monday morning.

Cpl. Larry Johnson of the Prince George's County Police Department tells 9NEWS NOW officers responded to a call of shots fired around 2:35 Monday morning. When they arrived in the 3500-block of Hubbard Road in Landover, they found a wounded man. A short time later, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not said exactly how the man died. His name is not being released. Cpl. Johnson expected that information might be made public later in the day. For now, officers are working on finding a motive and looking for suspects.

Maryland Early Voting

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland (WUSA)-- For the general election, early voting centers will be open starting Friday October 22, 2010 through Thursday, October 28, 2010, except for Sunday, October 24th when early voting centers are closed.

Early voting centers will be open from 10 am until 8 pm each day of early voting. Anyone in line at 8 pm will be allowed to vote.
