GLENARDEN, Md. (WUSA) - Members of the Prince George's County Police Department are searching for a man who allegedly took his 1-year-old son from his mother at gunpoint Monday night.

Police spokesman Officer Evan Baxter said 24 year-old Cornell Antonio Bennett, of NE Washington, reportedly forced his way into a home in the 3000 block of Brightseat Road and took his son Jo'Ell Jackson, at gunpoint.

Baxter said Bennett and the boy's mother have joint custody of the son, but authorities are worried because of the way Bennett took his son.

Baxter said Bennett is wanted on a 1st-degree assault warrant.

Anyone with information on Bennett's whereabouts are asked to call District III Detectives at (301) 772-4910 or anonymously to the Crime Solvers Tip Line at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
