Prince George's County Police Officer Denied Bail
Crime, News

GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA) -- Federal prosecutors denied bail to one of the three Prince George's County cops involved in a sting Monday, because of the weapons and drugs allegations against him.

Officer Sinisa Simic, 25, of Woodbridge, Virginia, will remain behind bars because the feds say he illegally trafficked handguns to his accomplices on the streets.

Prosecutors also say they taped Simic buying a half-kilo of cocaine during their investigation.

The initial investigation connected Simic to an alcohol and cigarette smuggling operation, where Prince George's County Police officers used their power to ship untaxed cigarettes and booze across Md., Va. and even N.Y. state lines.

Federal Judge Charles Day said he couldn't give bail to a cop who was giving guns to the bad guys.
