Hundreds are expected at the Murugan Temple of North America, Lanham, Maryland, on Sunday, July 3rd from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This day will celebrate the festival known as the FESTIVAL OF UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD, SRI JAGANNATHA RATHA JATRA (Chariot Festival), a yearly Hindu spiritual procession, that highlights the notion of global harmony and unity.
THE RATHA JATRA, began thousands of years ago, as a yearly celebration in Puri, the temple town in the State of Orissa on the east coast of India. Millions congregate to see the huge, colorfully-decorated chariots in a procession honoring the Hindu Lord Jagannatha, Brother Balaram and Sister Devi Subhadra, said Mr. Nayak.
