Highlighted Long-Time Community Partners in Thursday Celebration

Giant Food of Landover, Md. celebrated the beginning of its 75th year with an in-store anniversary party today, February 10. Giant highlighted its longstanding dedication to community involvement and previewed plans for its diamond year.

Seventy five years ago, N.M. Cohen and Sam Lehrman worked together to bring the first grocery store to the nation’s capital at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Park Road in  Northwest Washington. Members of both the Cohen and Lehrman families attended today’s celebration. 

Confirmed speakers included:

§ The Honorable Eleanor Holmes Norton, United States House of Representatives

§ The Honorable Jim Graham, Ward One Councilmember

§ Rob Harman, Regional Vice President, Giant Food of Landover, Md.

§ Mike Conlon, Regional Vice President, Giant Food of Landover, Md.

§ Jamie Miller, Manager of Public & Community Relations, Giant Food of Landover, Md.

Several long-time community partners and community leaders were present, and students from a Harriet Tubman Elementary School lead the audience in singing “Happy Birthday.”
