Toys for Tots distributes 1,000+ toys to PG County kids | News
LANDOVER, Md. (WUSA9) -- Thousands of children will have presents under the Christmas tree thanks to the Toys for Tots program.
The Prince George's County Police and fire departments and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves partnered to distribute tens of thousands of toys on Saturday.
The line wrapped around the Prince George's County Police Department with families who stood in line the night before so their children would have presents this Christmas.
Volunteers filled up bags full of all sorts of toys for boys and girls of all ages.
"It's just a blessing and thankful for the opportunity," one parent said.
They rolled out the bikes for waiting parents.
"It's pretty, my daughter's going to love it," said a parent about the bikes.
Fifty thousand toys are being distributed to more than 25,000 deserving children in Prince George's County, making their Christmas a little brighter this holiday season.
"We collect all these toys and think of all the children who may not have had a Christmas and we're giving that opportunity for a great Christmas," said Corporal Richard Kashe, Prince George's County Police.
"At the end of the day we're blessing a lot of people out here and I want them to take it in because we are taking care of our community," said Dawn Stem with Toys for Tots.
Toys for tots is responsible for bringing cheer for the last 20 years happens in all 50 states.
