Redskins Fans Welcome Team, Coach Shanahan Home

A few Redskins were faithful staked out at Redskins Park Sunday evening, waiting on Mike Shanahan and his team to get back from New York, as the coach's job hangs in the balance.

The frigid temperatures, cold rain, not even a heartbreaking season could keep the passionate fans from supporting their team. Christie Lopez is one of those fans, "No matter what. Win or lose, we are here," she says.

But after going 3-13, even these die-hards are tired. "I am glad it's over. Glad this season is over," says Lopez. "I am ready for a break, for whatever reason this season seemed extra long."

Even Coach Mike Shanahan got a warm welcome, as fans waived and welcomed him back. He arrived at the park riding in the team bus and left only 25 minutes later.

"I don't think all the blame should be on him, but part of it, yeah. I mean he's the coach," says Lopez. Regardless, these fans are standing by their 'Skins, hopelessly devoted. "Change can be good, if that's what it's going to take to get us in the right direction and what's best for the team and players and fan base, then yeah," says Lopez.

Although fans at Redskins Park did not get a resolution to the coaching decision Sunday evening, a press conference is scheduled to be held 9 a.m. Monday at Redskins Park.
