Spay/Neuter Clinic Reaches 3000th Surgery

LARGO, Md. (WUSA) - The Spay Spot, Prince George's County Animal Management Division's low-cost spay/neuter clinic, has been open less than a year, but on June 27, officials announced that it had reached a milestone, performing its 3,000th surgery.

The low-cost Spay Spot clinic opened in July 2011 and has been providing spay/neuter services to the pets housed at the County's Animal Services Facility, as well as for pets of County residents and area rescue groups ever since. The clinic is a partnership with Waldorf-based Last Chance Animal Rescue Inc., and Prince George's County Government and is operated by their veterinarians and support staff.

Spay Spot is open to the public on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Animals may be dropped off from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and picked up by 3 p.m. from surgery, scheduled by appointment only. In addition to low-cost spay/neutering services that start at $45 and go up according to weight, the clinic offers pet vaccinations, Heartworm tests and nail trims.
