WASHINGTON, D.C. – Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III and fellow county officials from across the country –most holding leadership positions within the National Association of Counties (NACo) –participated in an historic five-hour NACo/White House Summit on May 3 to discuss at length critical issues of concern to county governments and the communities they serve. The highlight of the half-day summit was an appearance and remarks by President Obama and Vice President Biden.

Modus Union Spring 2011 features a full runway show by acclaimed fashion designer Marc Bouwer (www.MarcBouwer.com), a 3-D film presentation previewing Bouwer’s Fall 2011 line, and an art installation and silent auction featuring some of the most talented visual artists in DC. The proceeds from this one-of-a-kind gathering will benefit Cancer Schmancer (www.CancerSchmancer.org), an organization founded by actress Fran Drescher to prevent cancer in women through education and early detection.

According to news reports, the board at Dulles International Airport stands behind its decision to build an underground station because it would be more 1) convenient for travelers, and 2) attractive than an above ground station.

So, it behooves us to ask about the degree of perceived inconvenience. How would using an above ground metro station compare with:

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Today, Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III, named Eric C. Brown as Acting Director of the Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).    

“The Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development is a critical department to thousands of Prince George’s County families and residents,” said Baker. “It was a priority of my administration to find the right leader to improve the service, reputation, and management of this department.  We have found an incredible and experienced housing expert in Eric Brown.”

Millersville and Landover high school students tapped for honor; Ellicott City and Baltimore students chosen as alternates

 

WASHINGTON, D.C.U.S. Senators Barbara A. Mikulski and Benjamin L. Cardin (both D-Md.) today announced the names of the two Maryland students who have been selected as delegates to the 49th annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP). The two students are Samantha Foggan of Millersville and Kevin Saucedo-Broach of Landover. They were chosen from hundreds of applicants to be part of the group of 104 student delegates who will attend the USSYP’s 49th annual Washington Week, which will be held March 5 – 12, 2011.
