U.S. Department of Agriculture to Honor All MCPS Elementary Schools for Nutrition and Health

According to Montgomery County Schools, on Friday, Sept. 9th, 10 a.m., The United States Department of Agriculture will honor all Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) elementary schools for their focus on healthy meals, quality physical education and nutrition and health education in classrooms. USDA Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services Under Secretary Kevin Concannon will present HealthierUS School Challenge awards to all elementary schools.

Safe Routes to Schools Grant Funding Awarded to Prince George's County

 

Maryland Lt. Governor Brown will announce a major award of funding to Prince George's County through the State's Safe Routes to Schools Program to enhance student pedestrian safety on Friday morning, September 9, 2011,10:30 AM,  at Glenridge Elementary, 7200 Gallatin Street, Landover Hills, Maryland.

21 Schools Remain Closed in Prince George's County
 UPPER MARLBORO, MD—On Tuesday, August 30th, a majority of Prince George’s County public schools will open on time.   

Due to mass power outages caused by Hurricane Irene; the following 18 schools will remain closed:

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) announced that six schools will remain closed on Friday, August 26th.  All other schools will open on time.

More Prince George's County Public Schools To Reopen On Time Friday

 

Prince George’s County Public Schools announced that 23 of the 32 schools closed on Thursday, August 25th, will reopen on time on Friday, August 26th. The remaining nine are awaiting final inspection; an update will be provided by 7 p.m. on Thursday.

BOE To Host First Meeting Of The School Year

 

Upper Marlboro, Maryland – The Prince George's County Board of Education will host the first Board Meeting of the 2011-2012 school year on Thursday, August 25, at 7:05 p.m. 

Key topics of discussion include a report on the start of the school year that features information on staffing, class size, transportation, and more.
