University of Phoenix Maryland Campus Names New Campus Director

 

University of Phoenix, the nation’s largest private university and leader in providing educational opportunities for today’s working learner, today announced the appointment of Josh Chumley as campus director for the University’s Maryland campus. Chumley will oversee all campus operations including academic affairs, enrollment, finance and student and alumni services for the University’s four Maryland locations.

County Public Schools Kick-off 26th Annual Science Bowl Competition

 

The following information was sent to us by the Prince George's County Public School's Communications Office: 

The Science Bowl, an award-winning science quiz program of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), kicked off its 26th season this week. Four teams from middle and elementary school of four students each – three players and one alternate – compete. Winners of the four matches then compete to determine the quarterfinalist of the day. The following elementary school competition is at Bonnie F. Johns Educational Media Center in Landover at 1 p.m. on October 4th.

Langley Park-McCormick Elementary Honored Through New Recognition Program

 

According to the Prince George's County Public Schools Communication Office:

Langley Park-McCormick Elementary School in Hyattsville has been recognized as a  “Super School” by Imagine Learning as part of their new Imagine Nation customer recognition program. School staff and students were presented with a banner, a plaque, and software during an assembly with students in Grades 1-4 on September 13. The school uses the company's award-winning language and literacy software, Imagine Learning English, to address the needs of students for whom English is a second language. English is a second language for approximately 66-percent of the students at Langley Park-McCormick Elementary School.
