Redskins Practice Facility Coming to Prince George's County?

This information was sent to us by Prince George's County Officials:

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County government has requested a feasibility study for a potential headquarters and training facility for the Washington Redskins on a parcel of land adjacent to Bowie State University in Bowie, MD

The proposed site is land currently owned by the County located off of MD Rt. 197 and Lemons Bridge Road. This location is near the existing Bowie State MARC station, approximately 10 miles away from FedEx Field.  In the original agreement that brought the Washington Redskins and FedEx Field to Prince George’s County, a provision was included to give the County the right of first refusal should the franchise decide to relocate its headquarters from its current location in Ashburn, VA.

PGA Nationwide Tour comes to Prince George's County

It's the perfect weather for the Fifth Annual Melwood Prince George’s County Open, featuring top professional golf stars competing on the Nationwide Tour at the University of Maryland’s golf course. The tournament runs from May 30th to June 5th.

A few local golfers are in the tournament including: 28-year-old, Naval Academy graduate and Annapolis resident, Billy Hurley. Prior to serving on a Navy destroyer in the Persian Gulf last year, he won seven college titles and in 2004 was the sixth-ranked amateur in the world.

Owned and operated by the PGA Tour, the Nationwide Tour identifies players who are ready to compete and win on golf’s biggest stage. More than two out of three PGA Tour members are Nationwide Tour alumni. Through the efforts of the three tours, sponsors, players, and volunteers, the PGA supports over 2,000 local charities and has surpassed $ 1.6 million in charitable giving.

Maryland and UVA go head-to-head for the 2011 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship

Maryland and UVA go head-to-head for the 2011 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship

The unseeded Maryland Terrapins outmuscled defending national champions, Duke Blue Devils, last Saturday in the semi-finals to propel them into the 2011 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship.

They take on ACC rival and 7th-seeded Virginia Cavaliers at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on Monday, May 30th. This game could change history as no team seeded lower than five has ever claimed the national title. The Terps are hungry for a win since they haven’t won a championship game since 1975.

Optimism is defined as taking a favorable view of events and expecting the most favorable outcome. The Redskins past three seasons can clearly be viewed as optimistic without the results panning out on the playing field. After the highly coveted off season acquisitions of Albert Haynesworth and soon thereafter Donovan Mcnabb, the overpaid and underperforming Washington Redskins roster turned in a measly 6-10 record, good for last place in the NFC East.

Barring a lengthy lockout the Washington Redskins will go into the 2011-2012 football season with a team that is again experiencing a complete facelift, and after viewing this year NFL Draft,  focusing on bringing in a lot of hardworking, high-character guys. This is clearly the best option for them after putting up with off-the-field head cases, such as Champ Bailey and Albert Haynesworth,  especially since these guys have not translated to any success in the playoffs over the past decade.

Vince Young To The Redskins?

Vince Young To The Redskins?

Out with the McNabb, in with the Young?

Omar Kelly of the South Florida SunSentinel reported this past Friday in a blog post that the Redskins are a potential landing spot for the quarterback.

"I’m hearing the Redskins are the front-runner for his services, so it’ll be interesting to see if the Dolphins get in the game," Kelly wrote.

How would you feel about this move?

Do you think Vince Young would be a good fit with the Skins?

There are Yoga Classes for Everyone

There are Yoga Classes for Everyone

I have been hesitating to start taking yoga because I am not flexible and all the people I know that take yoga are flexible. Is there a yoga class for me?

Absolutely. The people you know that are taking yoga are flexible BECAUSE they are practicing yoga. They are not necessarily practicing yoga because they are flexible!

Most of the yoga classes offered at studios and fitness centers teach the physical practice of yoga (asana) which is designed to increase flexibility, strength, and balance.

In classes you will be taught how to get into and out of poses safely, lengthen and strengthen muscles and to move in new and different ways than you are accustomed to moving.  New patterns of movement bring on increased flexibility and strength.
