Fans of romantic literature and Emily Giffin can rejoice again as she has released her newest gem, Where We Belong.
This New York Times bestselling author was at Georgetown’s popular clothing boutique, Urban Chic, on Tuesday to celebrate the release and meet her fans.
Hundreds of fashionable ladies stood in line with a copy of her book, waiting for the chance to snap a photo with Giffin, and grab her signature.
“I started reading her books when I was in college five years ago,” said fan, Meredith Godby. “I’ve read all of her books, and introduced them to all my friends. Most women want to read something that contradicts their everyday life. Giffin’s books are exactly that with a healthy dose of drama.”
For Giffin, the release of her newest summer read is a surreal moment for her.
“I’ve been writing my whole life, and considered myself a writer since I was five-years-old,” Giffin explained. “I was born to write.”
Her novels, which have been translated into 30 languages, are charming and irresistible. They focus on relationships that any and every woman can relate to.
“I draw on my relationships and the relationships of all my friends and family when I write,” said Giffin. “I think a lot of experiences are very universal, whether it’s a toxic relationship, a rough spot in a marriage, or a mother’s relationship with her daughter; those inspirations are everywhere we look.”
After five charming hits, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof, Love the One You’re With, and Heart of the Matter, Emily Giffin is most excited about her newest character plot between a TV producer and her daughter that she gave up for adoption 18-years prior.
When asked about future books, Giffin smiled, and acknowledged that she has three ideas in mind for another book including a sequel to Where We Belong that she will begin to write after she spends time with her three kids and finishes her book tour.
After Something Borrowed hitting the big screen, Giffin is also confident that Love the One You’re With and Where We Belong will go Hollywood soon.
Giffin will be at Barnes & Noble, located at 4801 Bethesda Avenue in Bethesda, Md., at 7 p.m. for a second book signing and encourages all her fans that couldn’t get off work to join her.
